Aquarela means watercolor in Portuguese and the group has always tried to appoint dancers from a variety of backgrounds that embody the colors and diversity of Brazil. Currently, Aquarela is made up of four principal dancers who have been dancing for a combined total of over 25 years and three new additions that add innovation and renewed enthusiasm to our art. Aquarela holds rehearsal for 2-3 hours twice a week. In addition, our dancers are committed to participating in several shows per month. While traditionally Aquarela's dancers were mostly Brazilian natives, several members of the current cast are American-born. These have enthusiastically assimilated Brazilian dance tradition with their own personal style and present a rich and diverse addition to our repertoire.
